The Goal
Connectivity through technologies has made us always on 24/7. The impact to the remote workers is that they now received workload even outside working hours. This made them stressed. Our mission was to help them to manage their stress. So that they can cope with it in the long run.
The Outcome
The main deliverable of this project was a fully functioning iOS app where users could do the mindful breathing with box-breathing technique. Enhance breathing experience
by customizing theme, vibration and audio instruction to fit their preferences.
The Process
We used the popular Design Thinking Framework which consists of these 5 stages.

My Responsibilities
• UX Research
• Coder
• UX Design (this is a team project so i didn’t fully handle the UX design process but still gave a bit of contributions to the responsible teammates.)
Empathize and Define
In Empathize Phase we try to gain an empathic understanding of the problem we try to solve.
We try to answer the question “What are the user needs?”. Since this phase deals more with research, this is where i contributed the most. I interviewed three individuals and help with creation of personas. Then, we put together the informations and synthesize them in order to
define the core problem.
Interview and Desk Research
In order to discover users’ behavior, i conducted one-on-one interviews with three remote workers. And i also did some desk researches to understand more about the problem space.
Findings:
• Remote workers difficult to disconnect from work.
• Remote workers do not have much time to rest.
• Remote workers have to manage their own work/life time
Discussion With Expert
To gain deeper understanding about stress and how to cope with it, we had a discussion with
a psychiatrist. Then, we found out that:
• Healthy mental state is an immune to deal with stressor.
• We need to stay in the positive stress (eustress) so we don’t get burn out.
• To increase the immune of stressor, human need time to self-care.
User Persona

Ideate, Prototype and Test
Benchmark Analysis Sample

Lull
This app uses haptics to gently sooth mind and provide a minimalist, sensory detachment from surroundings.

Breethe
This app provides calming music as one of the
feature of the mindfulness experience.
Layout Design
We collaborated by using InVision to generate ideas and create sketches and tested the potential solutions to users with some iterations. This is one of the sketches that we came up.

Validate the Solution
We tested the solution to users, with some iterations we collected feedbacks, refined the design, and keep iterating until we had the final outcomes.
Outcomes

Main Screen
If you feel pressured and stressed, just put your finger on the circle and focus on your breath. The vibration and audiovisuals will help you gather your stressed wandering mind to go back to your breathe and feel relaxed in the present moment.

Result Screen
You can also look at your performance and receive tips such as how to gain more focus, the ideal box breathing cycle to be done and how mindfulness manage stress in the long run.

Localization
In order to make the app more accessible, we offer it in both Indonesian and English language.

Themes
Not only that, you can change the themes of the app as you like to enhance your mood during the practice. The theme includes audiovisual that will further help you relax during the activity.

Dark Mode
Do you prefer to use dark mode on your phone? Well then, this app will suit you! We provide both modes based on your preferences.

Notifications
And there will be a daily friendly reminder to practice the mindful breathing for a while. Let’s call it Your Mindful Buddy.
